First Water Quality Report

Last week I watched  the City Commission meeting where they discussed the first of several reports on the water quality. While there was not an abundant amount of information yet, as this is only the beginning of the testing phase, I think it’s important to help keep local citizens aware of what is going on with our ecosystem.

To help keep you up to date, you can watch the video HERE of the results presented by Dr. Patrick Rice to the City Commissioners.

I went out to the reef on a dive earlier this month and it struck me how fragile our reef is and how dependent we are on it. To see as much dead coral as I did not only disappointed me that our leaders have not done more to protect our precious reef, but also to remember that we as a community have a voice in ensuring its crucial survival. When I’m commissioner, every vote I take will have our invaluable reef in mind.

I will continue to keep you informed as the meetings progress and hopefully we can find a way to save our coral. To speak with me directly on this issue, email me at chris@chrisformonroe.com or call me at 305-394-1108. To make a donation to my campaign go to https://www.chrisformonroe.com/donate.
