County Administrator Roman Gastesi Indicted

News broke today about retired Monroe County Administrator, Roman Gastesi, being indicted in the Trauma Star scandal for attempting to cover up the theft of over 600 vials of narcotics, including Fentanyl. Not only was Gastesi scheduled to return to his position of County Administrator next month, but he has been present at most BOCC meetings, assisting Kevin Wilson, until his return. Is this due to the fact he knew he might get caught and wanted to keep his finger on the pulse of this investigation?

How many more layers of corruption are there left to unfold at the County level?

Between the reckless lack of oversight of the TDC, the obvious support of big developers over residents’ desires with the overlay project of the Publix in Tavernier and now the fraud and misconduct of our top level county employee, we have to ask: When does it stop?

Not only does this create a lack of trust the community has of our local government, it demonstrates the CHANGE that is needed on the BOCC. As a former auditor, I plan to help restore the confidence in our leadership and make sure there is accountability and transparency to YOU, our residents.

The first thing I will do when I am on the County Commission is call for regular audits on county run agencies.
