BOCC Meetings Need More Transparency

The June BOCC meeting was canceled due to the Juneteenth holiday, so I expected the May meeting to cover both months' agendas and last all day. However, the meeting ended in just 3 ½ hours, finishing before 12:30pm. While the commissioners may enjoy having the afternoon off, I'm concerned that not enough time was spent discussing two months' worth of agenda items that are important to the public.

Meetings are getting shorter as the budgets get bigger and bigger. Are more items being approved without public discussion? Does the BOCC not want you to know about these items? I can’t understand why a double-month meeting ended so quickly.

If I am elected as your County Commissioner, meetings will have longer, in-depth discussions to ensure transparency and address the issues that matter. One commissioner can pull any item and ask as many questions as they want, and I intend to. But I need your support to get elected. Campaigning isn’t cheap or easy. Your donation will help me travel the Keys, meet residents, and spread my message of transparency, budget control, and fiscal responsibility.

One commissioner can pull any item (during the BOCC Meetings) and ask as many questions as they want, and I intend to.

You can donate up to $1000 personally as well as from your business. No donation is too small! Your support will help ensure future accountability for the BOCC and prevent hidden costs in Bulk Approval items.
