Take the Monroe County Survey to Learn More about ROGOs!

At this month’s BOCC meeting, Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Libraries, Kimberly Matthews, presented the County staff’s current progress and plan for public participation in determining the number of ROGO permits Monroe County will ask to be awarded by the State of Florida at the end of this year. Community feedback on this decision is essential in determining how many ROGO permits to request.

Ms. Matthews has plans to meet with local groups throughout the Keys through August to ensure as many as possible are educated on this subject in order to get a full picture of what the County residents need and want. The county has released a short survey to get public opinion and to help residents understand what ROGO’s are. I applaud the county for doing this. Our future should transcend politics and I want to help wherever we can to promote public awareness of this critical decision we will be facing. Please complete the survey below and I welcome your thoughts and opinions on this.

Finally, if you are part of a local group you would like the County staff to schedule a ROGO presentation for and to understand why this is so important, you can go to https://www.monroecounty-fl.gov/1321/ROGOBPAS-Workshop-Presentations to learn more about ROGOs and contact staff directly. This is a crucial issue that everyone should be involved in having a say.
